January 26, 2009: COMPOSTING

Issue/Problem: Food refuse that goes to landfills increase waste space, but it can be composted for use in horticulture, reducing the need for chemical fertilizers.

Solution: Compost all food waste, all compostable food service containers, etc.

Policy: All units should actively manage and maintain their food waste composting program once implemented.
