Issue/Problem: A lack of standards exists for defining when operations are environmentally friendly.

Solution: Various organizations set standards for sustainable and environmentally-friendly operations. These include: ISO 14001 standards; Green Restaurant Association; Clean Marina certification, and others.

Policy: The goal is to have ISO 14001 certification for all units. Until that goal can be reached, units should seek to comply with standards established for their type of operations. Any questions regarding the relevance of certifications and standards to their operations should be directed to the head of the ourPlanet program.
