Guest Services, Inc. - 2007 National Cherry Blossom Festival Sponsor
Guest Services has partnered with the National Park Service and the Environmental Protection Agency to recycle during one the Nation’s Capitol’s most popular events on the National Mall – the National Cherry Blossom Festival.

As part of our pledge to the National Park Service, Guest Services collected some 40,000 trash bags in 2006 during the festival. This was estimated to be only 25% of the total recyclable trash. Our goal for 2007 is to collect and recycle 75%.

To accomplish this goal:

• We have established four 10’x10’ fenced in areas for collection points.
• We have purchased special recycling containers that are easy to see and easy to empty. These will be located next to four sites in easy walking distance to the Tidal Basin and Jefferson Memorial.
• We are purchasing banners that will stand eight feed over the recycling containers so that they are easy visible to visitors.
• We have agreed to add one staff person and a golf cart to continually empty trash containers during weekends and nice-weather days.
• We are purchasing T-shirts for our employees that promote recycling.
